She Would Buy the Flowers Herself (2009, oil on canvas, 60 x 60 cms)

She Would Buy the Flowers Herself (2009, oil on canvas, 60 x 60 cms)

The opening lines of Virginia Woolf's Mrs Dalloway. The old servants' bells in our kitchen evoke that period and hint at how different the relationships in a household then would have been: a household that would have looked out of that very window, that might have placed flowers on that very windowsill.
